- Fron Haul – a snug Grade 11 listed cottage hunkered down in the Preseli Hills
Fron Haul is a traditional limewashed cottage, known as a Ty Un Nos, a one-night house. In the early 19th century people were permitted to erect a dwelling on common land, providing the building of the structure was completed in a single night, and a fire alight by dawn.
Available via West Wales Holiday Cottages, Fron Haul boasts carefully conserved original features combined with modern comforts. These include a blazing wood-burning stove, original artworks, a good selection of books, maps and games and a well-equipped kitchen.
There’s four acres of land to wander through and admire the views. This is red kite country, where these splendid birds wheel overhead like an emblem of hope.
Take a rest at the garden arbour, overlooking the wildlife pool – from this vantage point you can relish glorious sunsets and endless starry skies. The stillness a reminder that this is light years away from the bustle of daily life.
